Sales Tree Design Tips to Boost Student Enrollments in Your Martial Arts School

When building your sales process, one of the most common questions I get is: “How many layers deep should my sales tree go?”

The truth is, there’s no magic number. Your sales tree is unique to your school, your leads, and the way you handle follow-up. Some trees may have just a few layers, while others might go much deeper. The key is to focus on clarity and efficiency—not just adding layers for the sake of complexity.

As you build your tree, you’ll start to notice patterns. Certain parts may feel repetitive or redundant. In these cases, it often makes sense to group similar actions or reactions into a single step. This keeps your process simple and avoids unnecessary work.

Your sales tree should always end with your ultimate goal: a student sign-up. Every action and reaction should be intentionally designed to move the lead closer to that outcome.

Here’s my recommendation:

  1. Build it out in detail first – Don’t worry about perfection in the first draft. Map every action you can think of.
  2. Refine and simplify – Review your tree, remove unnecessary steps, and combine similar actions.
  3. Test and adjust – Watch how leads flow through the tree, then tweak for better efficiency.

The more intentional you are with your layers, the smoother your sales process will run—and the more students you’ll enroll without adding extra work.
